Prime Minister Narendra Modi conferred with the Order of Zayed, UAE’s highest civilian award

In News Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with United Arab Emirates’ highest civilian award, ‘The Order of Zayed’ during his visit to the Islamic Nation. Background PM Modi was on a three-nation tour to UAE, Bahrain and France recently. The UAE had announced the award to be conferred on PM Modi in April 2019 for playing a pivotal role in boosting bilateral ties between the two countries. Who gave the award to the PM? Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan conferred UAE's highest civilian award, 'Order of Zayed' on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier in April, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in a tweet said, "We have historical and comprehensive strategic ties with India, reinforced by the pivotal role of my dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who gave these relations a big boost." About ‘The Order of Zayed’ award The Order of Zayed is the United Arab Emirates' highest civil decoration named after Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is popularly referred to in the UAE as the Father of the Nation. He was the founding father and the principal driving force behind the formation of the United Arab Emirates. Zayed medal is awarded to kings, presidents and heads of States. UAE became the first middle eastern country where RuPay card has been launched. PM Modi swiped RuPay card to make a purchase of laddoos which he offered as a 'prasad' at Shreenathji Temple in Bahrain. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also released postage stamps on Mahatma Gandhi to commemorate his 150th birth anniversary.
