Draupadi was the wife of the five Pandavas. The eldest Pandava, Yudhisthira lost his entire kingdom, all his wealth, his brothers and his wife Draupadi to his cousins Kauravas, led by their eldest brother Duryadhana, in the game of dice.
Duryodhana called for Draupadi to be dragged into the gambling hall and disrobed. The servants were reluctant to do so, so Duryodhana asked his brother, Dushasana to fetch her forcibly. Dushasana grabbed her by her long, wavy hair and dragged her to the court.
When he began to disrobe her, she prayed to Lord Krishna to save her honour. Lord Krishna was deeply moved and protected Draupadi by providing infinite length to her attire which ensured she remained fully clothed despite Duhshasana’s best efforts.
This incident culminated in the battle at Kurukshetra, which resulted in the death of the entire clan of Kauravas.
