·Lack of political representation
·Social mindset about gender-based roles

Savitribai Phule is considered to be the first woman teacher in India. She was illiterate at the time of marriage, but she got educated with the help of her husband, completed the teachers' training course, started a school for girls and became the first qualified woman teacher in India in 1848. She had to face tremendous harassment from conservative elements who found the idea of women's education repugnant and against culture. However, she boldly continued her work and motivated other women to become educated and empowered.
